Usage and Trails:
Allowable uses: hiking and nature observation. No motorized vehicles, fires, or overnight camping. Pets allowed.
Trails: There are two 0.3-mile loops, stacked in a figure-eight-like configuration. Wooden foot-bridges allow access across the streams. The trail is mostly unimproved, with occasional rocks, roots, and uneven ground.
History:
This 15-acre conservation area was once part of the much larger Fogg Farm. Established in 1807 by Dudley and Nancy Fogg, the farm encompasses roughly 200 acres. In 1989, after almost two centuries of farming, the Fogg Farm was sold and pastureland subdivided. The 15-acre Fogg Farm conservation area was created to ensure its natural and scenic values remain intact for recreational and educational use. In 1992, the conservation easement was conveyed to the Kennebec Land Trust and fee ownership to the Town of Readfield.
