Kennebec Land Trust’s Conservation Leaders and Legacy Society members have a valuable role in conserving our natural and cultural heritage.

The KLT Legacy Society is a group of forward-thinking KLT supporters who care about the future of land conservation in Kennebec County and have chosen to make planned gifts that ensure KLT’s long-term success as a regional conservation leader.  Donors who name KLT a beneficiary of a portion of their estate or set up a life-income gift will be recognized as members of our Legacy Society.

KLT Conservation Leaders are household members who give $1,000 or more in annual membership dues in support of the Trust's land acquisition and conservation, stewardship, education, and sustainable forestry and farming programs.

Your generous gifts will help ensure our long-term financial stability and will create a powerful legacy that will support Kennebec Land Trust’s work today and in the future.

What is a bequest?  A bequest  is perhaps the simplest form of planned giving. You can make a bequest by  naming KLT a direct beneficiary of specific assets or a portion of your estate in your will. A bequest can also include naming KLT the direct beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan, such as an IRA 401(k) or 403(b).In most cases, the language in a will should be brief and straightforward. For example:

I hereby give the Kennebec Land Trust, a Winthrop, Maine 501c-3 nonprofit organization, a bequest of $_________  to be used for its general charitable purposes.
