History

The Hewett family, long-time residents of Fayette, have owned and taken care of this property since 1965. In March 2021, Ron Hewett reached out to KLT about a plan to protect his long-held family land from subdivision. The Oak Hill Conservation Area was permanently protected on December 23, 2021.

In June 2022, KLT purchased a 14-acre property on the east side of Hales Brook. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has mapped this parcel as significant Inland Wading Bird and Waterfowl Habitat. Many thanks to Terry and Michele Briggs and James Dwyer for their cooperation and conservation vision.
