Kennebec Land Trust meeting, race planned

FAYETTE — Kennebec Land Trust will hold its 27th annual meeting and Tri-Sport Challenge Race on Sunday, Aug. 23, at Camp Winnebago on Echo Lake in Fayette. The meeting starts with KLT's popular Tri-Sport Challenge, which consists of a ¼-mile swim, ½-mile paddle and 5K run.

The annual gathering will feature photography, botany and break-dancing workshops, a hike at Parker Pond Headland, a potluck lunch and cookout, and a brief meeting honoring KLT land donors Muffy and Jim Floyd. In March 2015, the Floyds donated KLT’s newest conservation property, the 71-acre Vienna Woods conservation easement.

The day begins with the Tri-Sport registration and race prep from 7:30-9 a.m.; 9 a.m., Tri-Sport Challenge Race; 10:45 a.m., workshops, activities, and open swim; noon, potluck cookout lunch; 1 p.m., annual meeting; 2-4 p.m., Parker Pond Headlands hike (optional).
