Join KLT stewards Jane and Stan Davis and KLT staff and board members for a hike at Perkins Woods on Androscoggin Lake. The fourteen-acre Preserve features tall eastern hemlock, white pine, red oak, and white ash trees. Parts of the forest have a cathedral-like open structure, with little tree, shrub, or herbaceous understory. Some of the legacy trees in this beautiful forest stand are more than 150 years old. There are few old growth stands like it in central Maine, so Perkins Woods Preserve is important not only for its ecological and scenic values, but for its historical significance as well.  Thanks to the group Winthrop Plays Outside, snowshoes for children and adults will we available on a first come, first served basis. Meet at Camp Androscoggin on Leadbetter Road in Wayne. Park around the circle.
