Bring your canoe or kayak and join KLT stewards, board members, and staff for a paddle to Norris Island on Androscoggin Lake. Eagles, osprey, loons, and herons can often be seen, so bring binoculars. Norris is the largest and highest island on Androscoggin Lake. It features an uncommon white oak stand and a unique black sand beach made up of weathered, course-grained bedrock. Meet at the Androscoggin Yacht Club in Wayne. This is a long paddle, so pack water and a snack. All ages are welcome.
The Kennebec Land Trust (KLT) works cooperatively with landowners and communities to conserve the forests, shorelands, fields, and wildlife that define central Maine. KLT protects land permanently, offers opportunities for people to learn about and enjoy the natural world, and works with partners to support sustainable forestry and farming.
