Bring your canoe or kayak and join KLT stewards, board members, and staff for a paddle to the seventeen-acre Hodgdon Island Preserve on Cobbossee Lake. The one-mile trail loop features spectacular views of the shoreline and wetlands, an unusual northern white cedar stand, and an old white birch with a fire scar. Sunset Beach’s granite ledge and sandy lake bottom provide an ideal spot for picnics and swimming. After the hike, feel free to linger here before your return paddle. Meet on the Collins Road a short distance east of the outlet bridge and park along the Collins Road. All ages are welcome.
The Kennebec Land Trust (KLT) works cooperatively with landowners and communities to conserve the forests, shorelands, fields, and wildlife that define central Maine. KLT protects land permanently, offers opportunities for people to learn about and enjoy the natural world, and works with partners to support sustainable forestry and farming.
